Thank you for your donations – you’re making a real difference

At Hackney Giving, we believe in the power of community. And thanks to your generosity, we’ve seen that power in action.

Whether you gave £5 or £500, your donation has helped fund grassroots organisations that are the beating heart of Hackney and the City.

These are the groups that know their neighbourhoods inside out – offering food, mental health support, youth activities and so much more. Your donations mean that they can keep doing what they do best: helping people feel seen, supported and connected.

Since April 2020, using money donated by individuals and businesses, as well as funding from the Council and the NHS, Hackney Giving has distributed over £2.8 million in grants to more than 175 local organisations.

That’s hundreds of community events, crisis projects, wellbeing programmes – and more – made possible by people like you.

Why does individual giving matter so much?

Local charities often operate on tight budgets. Your donation helps them stay flexible and responsive – whether it’s providing emergency food parcels or running a street party to tackle loneliness.

We also know that giving is personal. Maybe you donated in memory of someone, or to mark a special occasion. Maybe you could take on a challenge and run the Hackney Half or set up a fundraiser with friends.

You’re not just giving money – you’re giving hope, dignity and opportunity. You’re helping build a fairer society, where everyone has the chance to thrive, no matter their background or circumstances.

And at a time when the cost of living is still making life difficult for many, your support is more vital than ever.

Hackney Giving is proud to be a trusted, transparent grant-maker. We work hard to ensure your donations are used wisely and fairly, reaching the people and places that need them most. Every pound goes further when it’s spent locally, and you can often see the impact just around the corner.

However you chose to give, we’re deeply grateful.
