Thank you for supporting the Hackney Giving team at the Hackney Half!
Your support means the world to us. Look out for our runners and give them a big cheer as they run through Hackney on Sunday 17 May.
Today we went to an event giving people support and advice about the cost of living.
The event was held at New Kingshold Community Centre, hosted by The Cost of Living Project partnering with CoCreate Hackney and Community Closet.
It was designed to focus on supporting the more vulnerable and under-supported groups in the community. This included homeless people, those who are not digitally connected, service users not accessible by information mailing lists, and anyone preferring in-person communication.
The room was busy, with lots of stall holders, some of which Hackney Giving has funded previously, including Hackney Quest, Bags of Taste, Hackney Foodbank and the Community Closet. And we bumped into officers from Hackney Council who were also there to meet people and stay connected to the voluntary and community sector.
Lovely to see so many people and really great that events like this happen. This kind of on-the-ground community work is essential so that people are able to get the support that they need. Well done to the organisers.

Thanks to you, we funded an extra eight community projects to help people with the cost of living over the winter. The positive impact on people’s lives is clear.
