Thanks to Stoke Newington History for choosing Hackney Giving
£678 from your tickets for Stoke Newington History’s recent talk has come to Hackney Giving – thank you!
Amir Dotan has been hosting talks on the history of Stoke Newington History since 2012, and Hackney Giving was the latest in a long line of local causes to benefit. A huge thank you to all of you who bought a ticket and contributed to the £678 that was donated. This is part of an incredible £12,680 raised by this series of talks. Previous charities to benefit include Hackney Migrant Centre, the Literacy Pirates, St Joseph’s Hospice and Shakespeare Walk Adventure Playground. We’re delighted to have been chosen!
The money will go towards community projects here in Hackney and the City of London that support people’s wellbeing or which bring people together to reduce isolation.
The event, held at St Matthias Hall on Wordsworth Road, featured three talks, covering Paradise Row, The Mildmay Club and even the Stoke Newington Rollerskating Byelaw of 1910. You can read more about Stoke Newington History and future talks by visiting their website at https://stokenewingtonhistory.com/stoke-newington-history-talks/. You can also look out for Amir at the upcoming Hackney History Festival!
Thanks again to you all for giving so generously.

Thanks to you, we funded an extra eight community projects to help people with the cost of living over the winter. The positive impact on people’s lives is clear.

Swimmers at London Fields Lido have donated more than £2000 towards Hackney Giving’s Cost of Living appeal, meaning more support for community groups locally.
